about

Those who go waaaaay back with me might know this is the one instance where I stole from myself. The chorus of Friends was from a song called Evening Shadows and I repurposed it for this song. Why? I don't know but it's something I haven't perhaps ever done again. Would rather write a new one! In any case, this song was re-recorded for my unreleased Lovestar EP and it's a pretty huge version. For now, here's my little Archie-themed tribute to you, my friend.

lyrics

Veronica, you’re better than Betty
and maybe I’m ready to watch you bleed.
I know you; you’ve got everything
but I’ll give you something and I think it’s what you need…

And you got your friends, and the sun is going down,
and you’re looking with your heart,
and the world is spinnin’ ‘round.
And what will become of it all in the end?
And who will you get for your friend?
And why can’t you show yourself; why do you always pretend?

You’re special-like; just the way the boys like.
I hear you like to get around- I hear you’re all right.
And who wouldn’t want to meet you in a restaurant,
or look behind your pillowcase? I bet its outta sight. :

And you got your friends, and the sun is going down,
and you’re looking with your heart,
and the world is spinnin’ ‘round.
And what will become of it all in the end?
And who will you get for your friend?
And why can’t you show yourself; why do you always pretend?

And someone said the looking glass will show
all the pretty, pretty starlight that the world may never know.
I wouldn’t want you locked up in a cage at such a tender age…

And you got your friends, and the sun is going down,
and you’re looking with your heart,
and the world is spinnin’ ‘round.
And what will become of it all in the end?
And who will you get for your friend?
And why can’t you show yourself; why do you always pretend?
